An alumnus of West Chester University, Tom Cassidy claims to have been doing comedy since second grade. After taking a break from the laugh track in high school and college, Cassidy immersed himself back into stand up after his graduation from WCU in December 2007.
Thanksgiving is fast approaching which means it's the season to celebrate the timeless tradition of "The Thanksgiving Day Parade." Starting at 9 a.m., on Thursday Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving Day), on NBC, "The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" will celebrate its 80th Anniversary.
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," released last week by developer Infinity Ward, finds itself as the premiere release for not only the company and its publisher Activision Blizzard, but any gaming platform in the fourth quarter of this year. Between its all new campaign, revamped online multiplayer and all around excellent design, the sequel to 2007's monster hit "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" is the superlative first person shooter experience available today.
This past Tuesday, West Chester University played host to a free test screening of the low budget comedy "Swooped," which was written and directed by SeanPaul Costello and Joe Gariffo, who both also starred in the film. "Swooped" tells the tale of two best friends who accidentally end up with the girl that the other is seeking.
While the tagline for "2012" states that "We Were Warned" of the Mayan prediction that the world will end Dec. 21, 2012, we weren't warned of being overloaded with two and a half hours of special effects porn as well as an underdeveloped script. But if the movie is right and the world does end in 2012, those two and a half hours of my life will be sorely missed.
Attention musicians, poets and comedians: Java Jam is making its return to WCU this Friday, Nov. 20 beginning at 8 p.m. in Sykes ballrooms. Java Jam is a big open mic, coffeehouse type event that showcases WCU students' talents, but also includes a non-student artist or musician to headline the event.
"Disney's A Christmas Carol," may not be the cheerful holiday film that you should take a date or younger siblings to this winter. While the film has stimulating computer graphics and 3D visuals, poor voice acting and downright terrifying scenes are more likely to fill you with the fright of Halloween rather than the spirit of Christmas.
