Statewide smoking ban takes effect

Senate Bill No. 246, also known as the Pennsylvania Clean Indoor Air Act, was enacted this past week on September 11. The Act prohibits smoking in any public place in Pennsylvania, including but not limited to restaurants, bars, retail stores and bingo halls.

Fake emails plague students

Students have been received e-mails, claiming to be from the help desk, asking for their usernames and password. This is a fake e-mail that gets past filtering systems which can lead to a student's account being deleted to protect other's e-mail accounts.

Volunteer fair encourages students to get involved in off campus service

On Sept. 10, 2008 the Annual Volunteer Fair: Volunteers Go the Extra Mile, sponsored by the Office of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs, was held in packed Sykes Ballrooms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Volunteer Fair consisted of approximately 53 off-campus organizations and two on-campus organizations: Habitat for Humanity and Colleges Against Cancer, (formerly Relay for Life).

SGA sponsors bipartisan voter registration drive

Americans aged 18 to 24 are the lowest voting demographic in the United States. The growing apathy of young Americans to politics is evident in the high numbers of college age students not registered to vote. West Chester University's Student Government Association plans to help remedy that on the West Chester University campus by holding a voter registration drive in honor of Constitution Day on Sept.
