J.K. Rowling, the author of the "Harry Potter" series, picked the perfect time to reveal Albus Dumbledore's homosexuality October is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, or LGBT, History Month. LGBT month was first celebrated in October of 1994 in America by a Missouri high school history teacher.

Stallings reads poetry influenced by life

A. E. Stallings, author of two anthologies of poetry, came to West Chester University to present her work and explain how she has accomplished them on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Her books are "Hapax" and "Archaic Smile." Her first poems were published at a young age in the magazine "Seventeen.

Staphylococcus aureus, "staph," are common bacteria. They normally live on your skin and in the nasal pasages of about one in every three Americans. They are usually harmless. However, the bacteria can cause infection if they enter the body through the skin.

WCU dance team raises money for MADD

The West Chester University dance team is stepping out on campus with the hope to be recognized by the university for making a difference. On Oct. 20, the dance team hosted a car wash at John L. Smith, Inc., a local used vehicle dealership, and raised $600 that was donated to Mother's Against Drunk Driving.

WCUR open mic night showcases talent

On Thursday Oct. 25 night between the hours of 9 p.m. and 12 a.m., the West Chester University Radio Station, WCUR, hosted an open mic night in Sykes Common Grounds in Sykes Student Union The event was open to the public with no fee for entry. Anyone who wanted to could perform; they did not have to be WCU students.
